This Thursday Fehérvár will host Bundesliga team FC Köln (19:00) after the 1-2 win in the first leg. After beating Gabala of Azerbaijan and Petrocub Hincesti of Moldova, Vidi are one step closer of reaching the Conference League group stage for the first time.
Michael Boris wants to make history with Fehérvár and sure players like Loic Nego, Attila Fiola, Budu Zivzivadze and Palkó Dárdai among others will help him reach that. In Budu Zivzivadze’s case, he has scored in every international game so far with six goals, and Palkó Dárdai not only has two goals, but has also contributed three assists so far.
This is the sixth time Vidi faces the playoffs to qualify for the group stage taking in consideration Champions League, Europa and Conference League. Only one time they advanced to that stage, it was in the 2012-13 season of the Europa League after they defeated Slovan Bratislava in the second round, KAA Gent in the third round and finally they beat Trabzsonspor on penalties.
This also represents an opportunity to clean their image after the shameful elimination they suffered in Conference League last season against Ararat, and what a better way to do it than facing a strong Bundesliga team at home like FC Köln, who have not lost in three matches since the start of the Bundesliga.
