Position Last Season – 6th
Coach – Károly Kis
Odds – 19/1
Player to watch – Attila Fiola. Fiola was superb last season for Paks, a real rock and commanding presence in the middle of a very solid Paks defence. At just 22, big things lie ahead for Fiola, and if he continues to progress at this rate, a major European league beckons for the 21 year old.
Rising Star – Marton Eppel. The Hungarian Under 21 international arrived at Paks half way through last season after a torrid spell at Dutch side, NEC. The 20 year old striker has decent ability, and is very big and strong. Was tipped by the press to be a star of the future but hasn’t quite lived up to the billing. But there’s still time, and he could be a shining light this season for a Paks side who need someone to step up and score goals.
Realistic Target – With the loss of talisman, Daniel Bode, this season will be a transition one for the all Hungarian side. A lack of goalscorers will be the main worry for Karoly Kis, but as always they should be secure at the back so I expect a mid-table finish, but don’t be surprised if they’re fighting off the threat of relegation in June.
