Hungarians Abroad Roundup – 19th-21st August

It wasn’t a great weekend of football for the Hungarians abroad with not many wins coming for the one’s involved. All the action kicked off on Friday in Dusseldorf.

• Hungary’s number one, Gabor Király couldn’t prevent three goals being put past him in 1860 Munich’s 3-1 defeat to Dusseldorf. Highlights here
• Laszlo Koteles and Daniel Tozser both played the whole game in Genk’s 3-2 loss away to Cercle Brugge on Saturday. Not a good day for the Belgian Champions.
• Akos Buzsaky set up QPR’s only goal in their 1-0 win over Everton. He also played the whole game for the newly promoted side. Watch the assist here.
• Peter Gulacsi was dropped by Hull City and had to watch their 1-0 loss from the bench. Dave Grof was also a substitute goalkeeper for Walsall in their 1-1 draw.
• Tamas Hajnal played 61 minutes for Stuttgart in their 1-0 loss at home to Leverkusen. That’s Stuttgart’s first loss of the season.
• Vladimir Koman played an hour and Zsolt Laczko played the full 90 minutes in Sampdoria’s Coppa Italia defeat to Empoli. Not a good night for the two Hungarians.
• Szabolcs Huszti played half an hour for Zenit in their 5-2 win over Samara. He came on at 4-2.
• Zoltán Stieber grabbed an assist for Mainz in their 4-2 defeat at home to Schalke. Stieber put in a really good performance first half on the left wing, but was switched to the right at half time and struggled to make an impact. He was eventually withdrawn after 60 minutes with the score still at 2-1 to Mainz. Watch the assist here.
• Zsolt Korcsmar played the full 90 minutes for Brann in their 1-1 draw with Stabaek. Brann now sit four points of the leaders in Norway.
• Balazs Dzsudzsak played 78 minutes for Anzhi in their 2-1 victory over Dinamo Moscow. Dzsudzsak performed well, but still needs a bit more time to gel into the squad in Russia.
• And finally, Vilmos Vanczák played the full 90 minutes for FC Sion in their 2-0 victory away at Lausanne. Sion sit in third after 6 games.
